Digital Fashion Goes Mainstream
Incorporating fundamental elements of design thinking, Levi's joined forces with Google to develop the The Levis Commuter Trucker Jacket. This stylish clothing piece seeks to solve the problem of constantly having to pull out your phone to change a song, pick up a call or answer a text while you are on-the-go.
An especial team at Google has developed a connected platform that allows designers and retail manufacturers to incorporate connectivity and interactivity into their clothing. This platform, known as Jacquard technology, is programmed on a removable snap-tag and attached to your clothing. This tag enables your jacket and your phone to connect wirelessly and respond to gestures. The jacket’s sleeve is the interactive area, which responds by swiping or tapping on the fabric. The jacket defaults some preconfigured gestures, but you may chose to re-program them using the Jacquard smartphone app. Some of the options include playing, pausing, or skipping songs, choosing to receive updates on call or texts, and reminders of ETA for your destinations.
Like any denim jacket we would want, the Commuter Trucker is not only smart but durable, comfortable and warm to wear. Designed for the commuter, this jacket incorporates subtle details like a lower back hem for added coverage, 3M™ reflectivity for visibility, and secure zip pockets making jacket the perfect match for your life on the move.
