Make A Difference With Every Step
A sneaker made of wool sounds unusual until your learn all the properties that the material has. Merino wool minimizes odors, controls temperature and wicks moisture; creating the perfect environment for a shoe to be worn barefoot. That’s exactly what former New Zeland footballer Tim Brown and San Francisco’s biotech entrepreneur Joey Zwillinger had in mind when they launched the e-commerce brand Allbirds. Their company focuses on a single shoe model at the moment: the Wool Runner. Although the name may suggest otherwise, the shoe is not specially designed for training. This does not take away from the purpose of the shoe: to be comfortable. We really can’t say it enough, this sneaker is incredibly comfortable. The ultra-fine merino wool and rubber-foam polymer sole combined, provide a marvelous experience. This is the only shoe that we actually prefer to wear sockless without having to worry about sweat or odor. Allbirds will perfectly accompany you throughout the day, whether on your commute or to yoga. The sleek and neutral design allow the shoe to accommodate to different outfits nicely so you can wear them with your gym clothes or with your jeans, for a casual look. As if this wasn’t enough, the company prides itself on their social responsibility values. They are on track to becoming B-Corp certified, which means they meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. They only use ZQ-certified merino wool, which has very high standards of sustainable farming and animal welfare and their patent pending packaging uses 40% less materials than traditional shoe packaging. If you haven’t figure it out yet, Allbirds is giving us an opportunity to take pride in every step we take, while doing it comfortably and elegantly.
